TFT Etch-A-Sketch
TFT Etch-A-Sketch is a drawing device that uses a RGB TFT display controlled by two rotary encoder knobs that determine the x and y position of a virtual pen.
3 buttons allow the user to change the pen color, thickness, and the background color based on the position of another rotary encoder knob. 3 additional buttons allow the user to load and save two custom pen configurations. The control scheme is designed to be similar to that of an Etch a Sketch writing tablet, but with additional features that make for a unique experience that makes use of the RGB component of the display.
This was my final project for the class 6.115: Microcomputer Electronics Laboratory in Spring 2022, in which I received a perfect score. The report below walks through all the details of how I designed, laser cut, programmed, and built the device.
